There is no doubt that organising long-term accommodation is no easy task, but it is not as terrible or hard to find as is often made out. The problem is that you arrive here and learn that you need a residential address to get a bank account, national insurance number etc then rush to take the first thing that comes along. It is no surprise then that problems occur and people end up in accommodation that is either overpriced, sub standard, or with the landlord from hell.

So to avoid this:

• Be realistic when you book temporary accommodation - budget to stay long enough to organise your long-term accommodation.
